The Dane

thank you for all the support through the pandemic

After four years of being a part of the amazing Crown Hill community, we are sad to share that the last day The Dane will be open is Sunday, April 4th. We have enjoyed every minute of being part of this neighborhood! We look forward to every minute we have left.

As the world recovers from this virus, support all the small businesses that you can! We all need every hello, like, sale, thank you, recommendation, and as much positivity you can share.

Cycle Dogs will be here with us through 4/4 and make sure to follow them to get the latest on their new brick and mortar space in Ballard.

Come visit and enjoy our last weeks. Please give our incredible team the best socially distanced thank you that you can, we wouldn't have made it this far without their resilience and love for The Dane.

Thank you for all the support and love you have shown us!
Kelly, Victor, Amy and Jason

Hej! We are Jason, Amy, Vic and Kelly and we are the co-founders of The Dane.

Our little company of a techie geek, a marketing magician and two biology nerds grew through a mutual love of community, good food and great beer. (Always beer!) The Dane started as our vision to create a place that embodies the Scandinavian notion of “hygge”, a fundamental aspect of Danish culture. Hygge is a concept that evokes "coziness", particularly when relaxing with friends or loved ones and enjoying a tasty beverage and sharing a meal. Our beer and coffee cafe enjoys living daily life with all of our guests from celebrating milestones to first dates and as a spot to focus productivity or unwind at the end of a long day.

From the beginning, we have put a lot of love, sweat and tears into our business baby. We are in service of our dream and, with the support of our regular customers and our dedicated staff, it has grown to something greater than we could have ever imagined.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to become an integral part of the fabric of your neighborhood and we will continue to support the local community.

~~~
The Dane is able to weather this pandemic because of the support from our community and our hard working staff. We couldn’t be more grateful! Our priority is to keep them and you as safe as possible. Please heed health and safety recommendations when visiting and order online when possible.
Like so many of you, we are taking this time to do some space improvements. If you spot one of us with a paint brush or a sander in hand, please say “hello!” (from six feet away). We love meeting our neighbors and look forward to the future when we can all gather together in our beautiful space, once again. <3
FAQ
Q: Do you have indoor seating?
A: With our staff and customers’ safety a priority, we are not allowing any indoor seating at this time. Restrooms are available for customer use.
Q: Do you have WiFi for customer use?
A: During COVID19, we do not provide public wifi as it is ill-advised to spend longer than 30 minuets inside a public space.
Q: Is your place dog friendly?
A: Although we are all dog lovers, the city code doesn't allow dogs inside unless your dog is a service animal. Our patio seating is dog friendly to well behaved furry friends.
Q: Can we bring children and minors to The Dane?
A: Absolutely! There are sections of the bar restricted to 21+ but all other areas are all ages.
Q: Do you allow outside food to be brought in?
A: Please no outside food. (The exception is birthday cakes. We LOVE birthdays and encourage you to celebrate with cakes!)
Q: Do you take reservations for groups?
A: We sure do but it’s not required. Please submit your request on our reservation page.
Q: I represent a community school or non-profit. I’d like to ask if The Dane would like to participate in a fund raising event for our organization.
A: We exist for our community and will consider participation in your fund raising event. Please fill our the “Event Participation Request” form and we’ll get back to you:
